Teacher Sophia says ~

hold one’s tongue 保持幽默

A:I suggest you hold your tongue when the boss is talking.

   我建議你當老闆在說話時保持沉默。

B:But I don’t always agree with him!

   可是我也不是永遠都認同他的話!

sth. holds sb. back 某事使某人猶豫不決

A:This is a great chance. What’s holding you back？

   這是個大好機會。你在猶豫什麼？

B:I do not want to move to another city for that job.

   我不想為了那份工作而搬到別的城市去。

hold on 等一下

A:Could you hold on for a while？

   可以請你等一下嗎？

B:No. I am in a hurry.

   不行。我在趕時間。

hold still 靜止不動

A:Please hold still, so I can take a picture of you.

   請不要動，這樣我才能幫你照相。

B:OK. Do you want me to pose, too？

   好。你要我也擺個姿勢嗎？
